UP ATS busts ISIS-roused dread module, three captured

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police exceptional cell and Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) today purportedly busted an ISIS-motivated dread module spreading over five states.

In a joint operation by UP ATS and STF, two individuals were captured after an attack was done at a mosque in Bijnor's Barhapur region. The ATS had gotten knowledge that some known dread suspects in West UP had turned out to be dynamic and were selecting new individuals in planning to complete a fear strike.

From the get-go Thursday morning, the attack group drove by ATS captured Muhammad Fauzan and Muhammad Tanveer, who were en route to the mosque for morning petitions. Barhapur police headquarters SO Mukesh Kumar affirmed the captures.

SSP (Dehat) Dharamvir Singh said the police had been educated about the ATS strike, however had assumed no part in it.

Onlookers said the ATS had left their vehicles some separation off and had moved toward the suspects by walking.
